Every 26 seconds, a child is trafficked. Honduras is one of many countries that struggles with the sex trafficking epidemic. 80% of all registered births in Honduras are to single mothers and 60% of the population in Honduras live on less than $2.00 a day. Our hearts are with the women and children in this country and we want to help. The Jewelry Junkie has partnered with Joanna Ministries with the hope of helping women become self-sufficient and preventing a life on the streets.  Currently, we provide a monthly stipend that pays for a portion of medical care and living expenses.

Joanna Ministries is based in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and partners with other churches and ministries to provide hope and a chance for women and teens to know a life outside of the poverty that runs the city. Joanna Ministries exists to show women their true worth in Christ.

In 2012, the founder of Joanna Ministries, Laura Baxter, began working with a program in Kentucky who had a home for ladies coming from the sex-industry. At this home, she realized her passion for helping women see and develop their true identity in Christ. In 2014, She visited Honduras and saw that the need for ladies to understand their worth there, was incredible. She moved to Honduras in 2015 and expanded her ministry to work with women—and their children—who have been abused or abandoned. Joanna Ministries hopes to prevent a life on the streets by teaching them basic life skills and allowing them to develop their God-given potential.
